Is ARISTOS olive oil "extra virgin olive oil"?

Yes! Our olive oil meets all regulations to be classified as extra virgin. We publish the results of our chemical analysis (according to EU Regulation No. 2568/91) directly on the back of the bottle label. These values are measurable, defined thresholds that an extra virgin olive oil must fall below.

How is your olive oil made?

Our olive oil is exclusively cold-extracted. There are essentially two methods for producing truly good olive oil. These two methods are called cold extraction and cold pressing. Our olive oil is produced using the cold extraction method. Extraction means obtaining the olive oil by "centrifuging." You can learn more about this here.

When do you harvest the olives for your products?

Here in Trikorfo, harvesting begins between early November and late January, depending on the season. This always depends specifically on the development of the fruit in summer and the weather conditions in autumn. This varies from region to region.

Are your olive trees sprayed?

No. We do not use insecticides or pesticides to protect our olive trees. We don't need to. Because our olive trees grew centuries ago, there is enough space between each olive tree. This makes the trees naturally more resistant to pests than trees grown in "industrialized" agriculture. Working chemical-free has two major disadvantages. We have to prune wild thorn bushes by hand every year to lay out the nets. This requires at least one extra day of work. Not using insecticides means that the olive fruit fly nibbles more olive fruits. Part of the harvest is then lost when the olives fall from the tree due to the bite. But since we feed ourselves with our olive oil and want to offer our customers only the best, it is worth it to us.

Is your olive oil bottled in Germany?

Yes! We place great importance on bottling our ARISTOS olive oil here in Germany. This is the only way we can 100% guarantee that you are purchasing what we promise.

How do you ensure the quality of your olive oil?

That is a very valid question. Mainly through our multiple trips to Greece. In March for the rejuvenation pruning, in summer to check the condition of the trees and fruits, and in winter for the harvest.

How contaminated is your olive oil with mineral oil hydrocarbons?

We have been asked this question more frequently since the publication of the Stiftung Warentest report in 2017 about the contamination of olive oils in retail.

We immediately had our olive oil tested for traces of so-called MOSH, POSH, and MOAH. The results for our current olive oil vintage (December 2024) are inconspicuous. The risk of contamination is very low with our olive oil, as we do a lot by hand. You can find a detailed article here: Report on MOHS

Is ARISTOS olive oil organic-certified?

Yes! We started converting everything to organic farming in 2019.

Since the 2023/24 harvest, our Aristos olive oil is fully organic certified.

Can I buy different olive oils from you?

No, we exclusively sell single-varietal, unfiltered organic olive oil from our own groves near Trikorfo (Messenia) and from olive groves leased by us near Glykobrisi (Sparta, Laconia).

  • 500 ml glass bottle
  • 1 L tin
  • 5 L canister

Can I also buy olive oil with garlic or lemon from you?

No, because we only offer single-varietal Koroneiki olive oil in our range. To create a garlic or lemon olive oil, we recommend pouring some olive oil into a separate bottle and adding freshly pressed garlic cloves or grated lemon zest. This way, you'll get an aromatic garlic olive oil free of any other additives.

Can we vacation at your olive groves?

This is currently not possible, as it is a biologically certified farm. Tourism directly at the groves would logically lead to environmental pollution, which we want to avoid at all costs.

There are smaller guesthouses and simple hotels near the groves. Within 15-30 minutes, you can visit olive groves in the region around Trikorfo/Messenia.
