Unlike Greek olives, for example, tomatoes are usually not primarily associated with the sun-drenched land on the Aegean Sea – wrongly so. Although these fruits, originally native to Central America, have only been cultivated here for a few centuries, they find ideal conditions, for instance in the Peloponnese, to grow into particularly large specimens. So why not get delicious Greek (beefsteak) tomatoes directly from the producer via ARISTOS?
Description
Greek Tomatoes from ARISTOS in certified organic quality
Greek Tomatoes – from careful cultivation directly to your table
Due to the size of these fruits, the cultivation of beefsteak tomatoes differs significantly from other tomato varieties. They not only need to ripen longer in the sun than smaller varieties but also require stronger support, as the large and heavy fruits pull the entire plant downwards. Furthermore, it must be considered that most beefsteak tomato varieties have a comparatively thin skin, which makes them burst relatively quickly, especially in the rain. For this reason, our Greek tomatoes, which we source directly from the producer, are housed in greenhouses during the cooler and wetter seasons. This "thoughtful" cultivation ensures that these aromatic bundles arrive at your table intact. And weed control is exemplary too: black weed film between the tomato plants ensures that weeds do not get daylight – and do not have to be combated with chemicals.
Greek XXL Tomatoes as the basis for hearty dishes
Our Greek tomatoes contain a lot of aromatic pulp and are therefore naturally better suited for preparing a fruity tomato sauce than small date or cherry tomatoes. You can perfectly prepare salads made from our tomatoes with our olive wood salad servers. Stuffed beefsteak tomatoes are also a classic recipe. If you cut off a "lid" and carefully remove the pulp with a spoon, it can easily be replaced with a filling of your choice – be it fried minced meat, tuna mixed with olives and capers, or rice, bulgur, or a delicious vegetable paste, which you can also buy from ARISTOS. Topped with cheese, everything can then be baked in the oven at 200° for about 20 minutes.
Or try some clever "tomato schnitzel"! To do this, cut our large Greek tomatoes into slices about 1 cm thick and season them with salt and pepper. Then carefully roll the tomato slices in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs, and fry them until crispy in a pan with ARISTOS olive oil and a pressed garlic clove. After a short time, the healthy and very tasty meal is ready.
