Tsatsiki mit Joghurt

Tzatziki is probably the most famous dip. Whether with gyros in pita, or at a Greek restaurant, tzatziki is a must-have for any meal. With our recipe suggestion, we'll show you how we make traditional tzatziki with our own strained yogurt.

Ingredients

  • 200 g Firm yogurt
  • ½ Cucumber
  • 1-2 small cloves of garlic
  • Dill
  • Apple or balsamic vinegar
  • 5 tbsp Aristos olive oil
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1 olive

What you need

Lint-free towel, box grater (coarse grater for the cucumber)

Instructions

  1. Place the yogurt in the lint-free towel and let it drain for at least 2 hours. Please hang it up somewhere so it can drain.
  2. Grate the cucumber coarsely and salt it, then let it sit for 10 minutes. Afterwards, squeeze out the cucumber pieces with your hands to remove excess water.
  3. Cut or press the garlic cloves into small pieces.
  4. Put the strained yogurt in a bowl and stir in the cucumber, a generous amount of dill, and the garlic.
  5. Finally, add apple or balsamic vinegar and at least 5 tablespoons of olive oil and mix everything well.
  6. Season with salt and pepper and let it sit in the refrigerator for one day.

Making your own tzatziki – simple, fresh, and Mediterranean

For your tzatziki, finely grate cucumbers, add Greek (strained) yogurt, garlic, olive oil, plenty of dill, and a squeeze of lemon juice – and the creamy classic is ready. It's best to use our native Greek olive oil from Aristos' wide range to give the dip its typical flavor. Enjoy the pure taste of Greece – fresh, natural, and authentic.

Mom's tip

Always prepare tzatziki 1 or, even better, 2 days before consumption and let it chill in the refrigerator. Stir again before serving, drizzle some olive oil over it, and place olives in the center as a decoration. Tzatziki will keep for about a week in the refrigerator.
