Description
Greek Mountain Tea Sideritis Scardica
Our Sideritis Scardica, as Greek Mountain Tea is professionally known, comes from certified wild growth. The region of the producer community from which we source the mountain tea directly from Greece is located in the north of the country near the monasteries. Important in this context are the facts that Greek mountain tea grows on rocky areas at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. Sufficient sun, wind, and rocky soil are all that the ironwort needs to thrive to full maturity. The current tea was harvested in June 2024 and then gently dried.
The name Greek Mountain Tea is widespread in Germany and is gaining increasing importance. You will find various Greek ironworts for sale on the internet. However, we assure you that not every package truly contains Sideritis Scardica from Greece. The name is so valuable that the tea is specifically cultivated in third countries and marketed under the designation "Greek Mountain Tea." But the name alone does not indicate that the tea actually comes from Greece.
With us, you get genuine mountain tea from Greek soil, directly from its natural area of origin.

Tips for preparing Sideritis Mountain Tea:
Take two flower stalks of Greek Mountain Tea and place them in a pot with 500 ml of water. Traditionally, the ironwort is steeped in cold water and slowly brought to a boil. As soon as the water boils, turn off the stove and let the flowers and stalks steep for about 10 minutes.
The flowers can be boiled a second time with a little less water – but only if you brew the Greek mountain tea again immediately afterward to avoid the formation of unwanted germs. The finished Greek mountain tea can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2–3 days.
The tea tastes pleasantly mild even unsweetened. If you want to enjoy it a little sweeter, you can add some lemon juice and our citrus blossom honey, but make sure to add the honey to the tea only when it is at a maximum of 40 °C!
