What is Bulgur?
Bulgur is a traditional staple food in oriental and Mediterranean cuisine and is made from durum wheat semolina. Unlike other cereals, the wheat is pre-cooked, dried, and then coarsely to finely crushed. This gentle processing gives bulgur its typical loose consistency and ensures that it is prepared particularly quickly – ideal for conscious and uncomplicated cooking.
Our Greek bulgur comes from small farms in Greece. It is processed by hand, is free of additives, and offers an excellent alternative to rice or pasta.
Bulgur is known to most only from oriental cuisine. In Southeast Europe (Albania, Bulgaria, and Greece) as well as in Turkey, bulgur is widely used. In Greece, bulgur is mostly cooked together with lentils as a stew. With a little carrot and celery, the main course is wholesome.
